Summary of course
This course has been approved by the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh and has been awarded 11 CPD Points. Course Director - Mr Pradeep Patil, Ninewells Hospital,Dundee, Scotland. This course has been successfully running for more than 10 years and continues to develop based on the feedback from course delegates and faculty. Positive feedback has been received ever since the course started. This is an intensive, two-day course focusing on the core skills required for safe laparoscopic surgical practice. The course has been carefully designed to maximise hands-on experience whilst in our centre.
Description
Day one
Camera and scope manipulation, abdominal access and port closure, insufflation, ergonomics, sharp and blunt dissection, clip application, safe use of electrosurgery, application of endoloop, tissue extraction, and diagnostic laparoscopy.
Day two
Laparoscopic suturing, laparoscopic appendicectomy, avoiding errors and complications during laparoscopic cholecystectomy, laparoscopic cholecystectomy.
Who is it for?
The course is equally suitable for the junior surgeon starting out in minimal access surgery and for the more senior surgeon who is either new to laparoscopy or wishes to refresh their core skills.
